The Way of Mary is The Central European pilgrimage route
connecting the Marian shrines of the Carpathian Basin. Its two main branches form a cross representing its basic message: maintaining Christian values and experiencing human encounters. From east to west it reaches from Mariazell (A) to Șumuleu Ciuc (RO), from north to south it leads from Czestochowa (PL) to Međugorje (BiH.) Both main branches are approx. 1400 km long, which can be done in 60 days on foot, but some go for it by bike or on horseback. The side trails offer pilgrims several alternatives as they form a network of different holy sites, natural, architectural as well as cultural treasures to be seen.
Regardless of ideological beliefs, nationality or cultural background, the Way is open to all of you, who want to find out more about the people of the Carpathian Basin and their Christian traditions, or wish to discover the wonderful landscapes of the area, and are interested in the culture and hospitality of its inhabitants.
